Fettuccine Alfredo

Yes, this is a heart attack on a plate, but sometimes making something like this just has to be done. This is a good basic recipe, and very versatile – you can add plenty of other things like ham and peas or asparagus and shrimp!

Fettuccine Alfredo

1 pt heavy cream
1/2 stick unsalted butter
½ c freshly grated Parmesan
1 small clove garlic, minced
pinch nutmeg
salt and pepper to taste
fettuccine

Melt butter in a large skillet; add the garlic and saute briefly. Add the cream and nutmeg. Simmer for a while on medium stirring occasionally until thickened. Season to taste. Remove from the heat, add the cheese, and toss in the cooked pasta or whatever else you want.
