Holiday JellO Salad I

I have read in countless articles how jellied salads are soooo yesterday. So 70s. Or 60s. Whatever. But I don’t care! My grandmother made this recipe every Christmas while I was growing up – it’s different, delicious, and outright beautiful!

Holiday JellO Salad

3oz pkg cherry gelatin
1 c hot water
¼ c cinnamon candies
½ c boiling water
1 c finely chopped apples (skins removed)
1 c finely chopped celery
½ c chopped walnuts

Dissolve the Jell-O in ½ c hot water and set aside. Add the candy to ½ c boiling water on the stove. Once dissolved, pour into a measuring cup and bring the volume to 1 c liquid. Add to the dissolved Jell-O. Cool until partially set, then add everything else and put in mold. Chill, then serve.
