Taco Seasoning

Like my Grill Rubs for Pork and Chicken, I keep a small tub of this in the fridge. This recipe was adapted from one at allrecipes.com.

Taco Seasoning

  • 4 T chili powder
  • 1 t garlic powder
  • 1 t onion powder
  • 1/2 – 1 t cayenne (1/2 t for mild, 1 t for medium heat)
  • 1 t dried oregano
  • 2 t paprika
  • 1 T cumin
  • 1/2 T kosher salt
  • 1/2 T fresh cracked pepper

Use as little or as much as you want. I often double this recipe.

When I make tacos, I brown a pound of ground beef, chicken, or turkey. Then I add some onion, and cook that just a bit to soften the onion. Then I add a 4oz can tomato sauce, 1/2 c water, and ~2-3 T of this mix. Then I just simmer ~10 minutes to thicken. Done!
